Sitting right at the junction of I-26 and I-95, Orangeburg Elks Lodge #897 is the kind of place that traveling Elks actually seek out, and locals never want to leave. With a 4.6-star rating and members who call it a "quiet spot" and a "nice area," this lodge has earned its reputation not through flashy marketing but through decades of genuine fellowship.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has a simple motto that says it all: BPOE, Best People on Earth. Lodge #897 lives that out every time the doors open. From BBQ fundraiser dinners that draw in road-weary travelers to regular evenings where members gather, unwind, and connect, the lodge is built on the idea that community matters more than convenience.

Orangeburg itself is a city with deep roots and a strong sense of place, and Lodge #897 reflects that. This is not a transactional membership. It is a standing invitation to belong to something bigger than yourself, right here on Joe S. Jeffords Highway.

What We Offer

Lodge #897 offers members a comfortable, welcoming clubhouse where the atmosphere is relaxed and the company is good. The bar and lounge give members a place to decompress after a long day, and the lodge hosts fundraiser dinners and special events throughout the year that are open to members and their guests.

For traveling Elks, the lodge is a genuine road-trip asset. Located at one of the Southeast's busiest interstate crossings, it offers a rare chance to stop, eat a home-cooked meal, and spend time with fellow Elks before getting back on the road. Hours are limited to select evenings each week, so checking ahead is always a good idea.

Beyond the social side, membership connects you to the national Elks organization and its charitable programs supporting veterans, youth, and local communities across the country. Joining Lodge #897 means your dues do real work.

"As a traveling Elk, this is a perfect place to get off the road for the night at the intersection of I26 and I95. They are only open a few evenings a week, I was fortunate to get a bbq fundraiser dinner on one of my stops. I used this and 2 other Elk lodges as my stops on my snowbird trips twice a year. Don't forget to make a donation in an envelope and put in the door for the good of the order."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
